Kyle Prorok, Licensed Professional Counselor

Kyle began his work in the mental health field over twenty years ago after completing his undergraduate degree in Psychology. Seven years working in northwest Iowa at a residential treatment facility for adolescent teens led to returning to school for his masters degree in mental health. While finishing this degree, Kyle and his wife moved to Eau Claire, WI where he finished his degree while working for a private counseling agency that provided outpatient services, a trauma-based therapeutic day treatment program for teens and school-based mental health services. After five years in Eau Claire, Kyle and his family relocated to the Viroqua area where he has worked for different agencies providing in-home mental health services including the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) program. Kyle has provided school-based services for several local school districts through his own private counseling agency, Thrive Counseling which currently provides outpatient mental health services.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy begins with the first 90 minute session to allow the client to complete the necessary paperwork followed by getting an orientation to what to expect when meeting with Kyle. After the initial process there will be time to talk about what has brought you into counseling. Sharing as much as you feel comfortable is a great starting point as we begin to develop a trusting therapeutic relationship. Additional future sessions are typically 45 to 50 minutes in length.

Family Therapy

Kyle began working with family systems over twenty years ago when working in a residential treatment program for teens when families would visit on the weekends. Kyle is a Clinically Certified Trauma Specialist for Families through the Arizona Trauma Institute. This approach starts with helping families to understand the biological process each member experiences and manifests in their own way in response to stress, trauma, and challenging home environments. Being a guide for the family system in understanding this process and how behavior is communication for the internal experience helps the family to work toward improved mood regulation for everyone in the household.

Catholic Counseling

Kyle is an active member of the Wisconsin Consortium of Catholic Therapists (WiCCT). Anyone wanting to incorporate Catholic or Christian faith into their counseling work is encouraged to indicate their desire for this. If you prefer to not have faith or religion be a part of your therapeutic process, please know that is completely okay. No one will be encouraged, expected, or forced to explore faith, spirituality or religion unless they specifically request this to be part of their therapeutic journey.
